What Is TCCI?

TCCI was founded by a group of Siamese breeders and fanciers who favor the old style apple-head Siamese look. They were dissatisfied with the extreme changes in the contemporary breed, and concerned about related health issues. It has become obvious that other breeds are experiencing the same sort of changes, and the organization now known as Traditional and Classic Cat International, and has been opened to the traditional and classic types of all breeds of cats.

TCCI supports both Pedigreed and Houshold Pet Cat Registries. The studbooks of the Registry are still open, though all prospective registrations are subject to review by the Genetics Committee. Breed Councils are invited to submit their proposed breed standards to TCCI's Board of Directors for consideration. In addition to the Cat Registry, TCCI also supports a monthly newsletter, a listing of Breeders for prospective kitten buyers, a Cattery Inspection Program, and a Youth Program.

Though it has members world wide, TCCI is still a very small organization, and live cat shows are held infrequently. TCCI holds two yearly Photo Shows, one for pedigreed cats and one for household pets, where members are invited to submit photos of their cats in the various breed and color classes, as well as many "just for fun classes". The cats are judged against their breed standard by a panel of judges, and prizes and ribbons are awarded accordingly.
